ποΈββοΈ Lifting Expectations
Lifting is available for everyone. Our goal is to hit a minimum of twice per week.
Holiday weeks may reduce lifting time, but we will adjust when possible.
π Transportation & Fees
- There is no school transportation to indoor meets.
- I have a van license, so occasional transport is possible β but not guaranteed.
- The school does NOT cover entry fees.
- The Booster Club pays up front, and I will provide a payment link to reimburse them.
- If payment is not made before the meet deadline, athletes will be removed from the event.
- If plans change, please notify me at least 10 days prior or before entries close.
ποΈ Akron University Open Track Nights β $20 Per Athlete
Akron offers indoor open track nights throughout the winter for athletes of all event groups individually or as a TEAM.
-
Athletes may attend individually β You Pay the $20
No Copley Coach Required β Akron U has Coaching Staff On Hand Supervising.
- Excellent opportunity to get quality winter reps indoors, especially for events we cannot practice at Copley HS.
- If we have 15 athletes committed to go to the January sessions on the Participation form above, we will go as a team and the TEAM will pay.
πββοΈ Event Groups
- We offer 2 lifting sessions per week most weeks for ALL Groups..
- Distance (800 / 1600 / 3200): Individualized training plans available; majority of running is on your own.
- Email me for your training plan and run log setup.
- Sprints (60m / 200m / 400m): Runway mats rolled out in January. Training 2β3 days/week after school.
- Jumps: Akron U offers indoor jumping options.
Sprint training at Copley will also help.
Copley does NOT have indoor jumping facilities. Currently only 2 jumpers looking to compete in Indoor.
- Hurdlers: Practice with sprinters.
Akron U is the only indoor option for hurdle-specific work.
We currently have only 2 hurdlers planning to compete in Indoor.
- Throws: Akron U is our only winter training option for throwers preparing for Indoor competition.
β Indoor State Meet & Questions
Indoor State Meet:
Athletes must represent the school to have marks count toward State qualification.
Club or unattached performances do NOT count.
Fun Note:
Two Copley athletes competed two years ago β
and Trevin Jordan won the Indoor State Championship in Shot Put!
πͺ Can I Just Lift?
Absolutely β lifting only is a great way to prepare for the Outdoor Track season.
